St John's Methodist Church
Helping You Grow Your FaithSunday Mornings 11:00 am

St John’s is a long-established community of worshipping Christians, tracing its history right back to the early years of Methodism.
Between 1748 and 1790 John Wesley preached several times in “poor Wandsworth” and a chapel was built in Wandsworth High Street around 1772, one of the first Methodist Chapels in London, and it was named St John’s.
In 1864 St John’s Hill Methodist Church was built on our present site. When it was destroyed by bombs in 1940, the worshippers carried on meeting until the present church building was opened in 1957.
Our present congregation is made up of members from many different parts of the world, all of whom contribute to a rich mix of colour and custom. St John’s (membership 96) is a warm, loving and vibrant multicultural church with life-affirming Sunday worship and mid-week fellowship groups. As a church we explore together, through our unity of faith, all that makes us members of the World Church of Jesus Christ.
The building also offers space to various user groups which provide opportunities to serve others in the community.
